A man survived a crash into the ditch near the City of Taylor Animal Shelter last Thursday.

On Jan. 7, first responders rescued Richard Pulatie, 48, of Lyons. He was found in his 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the ditch near the bridge that supports Business U.S. 79.

“He left the roadway in the 700 block of East Fourth Street and came to a stop in the creek below the bridge,” said Taylor Police Commander Joseph Branson.

The Taylor police and fire departments and Williamson County EMS responded to the accident at 11:48 a.m.

“Mr. Pulatie was transported by emergency medical services with non life-threatening injuries,” said Branson.

A crash report had not yet been completed as of press time. However, Branson said there was no suspicion of intoxication with the driver.
