Rams football eyeing another week off

The St. Mary’s Catholic School varsity football team was supposed to have action at home this Friday night at Taylor Memorial Field vs.

Leander Sterling Classical School.

Unfortunately, it may be that the Rams will have a second straight week of not playing.

According to St. Mary’s Principal Heidi Altman, Sterling Classical is not able to field a team and will have to cancel its game with the Rams. Altman also said that as of Oct. 3, she and Rams head coach Rick Cobia are in the process of trying to find another team to fill the open slot to play but haven’t had much luck yet so they are treating it as another bye week.

Through five games this season for St. Mary’s six-man football, the Rams have a 2-3 overall record and started the season with lopsided victories over Williamson County Home School and Round Rock Concordia High School.

As of right now, the Rams will have two more 2023 regular-season games: Oct. 13 at Waco Methodist Children’s Home and Oct. 20 at Georgetown Grace Academy. St.

Mary’s was also supposed to have its final home game on Oct. 27 vs. Killeen Memorial Christian Academy but that team has also canceled its season. Stay tuned for more updates in the future on the Rams’ six-man football schedule with Taylor Press Sports.
