Blessings of the Animals
Meet Rev. Terry Pierce Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. for your pet(s) to be blessed in honor of St. Francis Feast Day at St. James’ Episcopal Church, 612 Davis St. between Sixth and Seventh streets.
St. Francis of Assisi is one of the most highly regarded figures in Christianity because he preached and wanted all creatures on Earth including humans to be treated as equals under God. He was canonized in 1228. St. Francis Feast Day is Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Animals must be leashed or in their cage. The reverend will dip their hand in holy water and sign a cross over the animal. All are welcome.
