Williamson County lifts burn ban
GEORGETOWN — Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of the county.
The ban ended Monday, Oct. 2 at 3:30 p.m. Now that cooler weather is approaching, the risk of fires spreading is less.
The Commissioners Court first put the ban in place during its July 18 session, stating that dry conditions and hot weather created a safety hazard. The ban was lifted early as the original order was not set to end for about another two weeks.
Gravell’s recent decision means residents are no longer restricted from outdoor burning.
The county advises residents to still be careful when burning.
Outdoor burning must be conducted under state regulations found in Texas Administrative Code Section 30 TAC 111.219.
Some fire departments require a permit to perform a controlled burn.
