Lady Hippos VB corrals Copperas Cove

HUTTO — In a crucial home match with playoff seeding on the line, the Hutto High School varsity volleyball team picked up a huge District 12-6A victory on Tuesday vs. Copperas Cove High School on Parents Night. The Lady Hippos had to grind but they got the job done in four sets over the Lady Bulldawgs: 25-22, 21-25, 26-24 and 25-23 to seal the win.

This Hutto team continues to play great as a unit and has depth on the roster from top to bottom. The Lady Hippos are led by junior Isabella Orton, senior Charlize Williams, senior Cori Babb, senior Hailey Bartley, junior Macie Atkinson, senior Jayanaa Davis, junior Lyric Guillory, senior Andreani Garcis and others on this talented Hutto squad.

First-year head coach Jessica Martinez has Hutto playing some great volleyball down the stretch of the 2023 season as the Lady Hippos look to return to the playoffs for the second straight year.

Now with an 18-15 overall record and a 4-2 mark as the third seed in the district, Hutto is now on to the second leg of district play as the Lady Hippos will have two district road matches this upcoming week: 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Bryan High School and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Harker Heights High School. The Lady Hippos defeated both teams in three straight sets at home the last time they played.
