National Night Out inviting to community
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, neighborhoods throughout Taylor are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out is sponsored locally by the city of Taylor and the Taylor Police Department.
Residents throughout Taylor are asked to turn on their front porch light and spend the evening with neighbors, police, city council members, firefighters and many others.
Neighborhoods across Taylor will host block parties and cookouts that will include visits from local police and city officials.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and policecommunity partnerships and generate support and participation in local anticrime efforts.
For more information and to register your block party, contact Claudia Parisella at the Taylor Police Department 512-3525551 or visit www. nationalnightout.org.
Hutto
In Hutto, officers from the police department and firefighters from Hutto Fire Rescue will visit dozens of subdivisions and homeowner associations who are participating by holding family-oriented events in their neighborhoods.
Hutto police officials have said the reason they participate is it gives them a chance to actually get out and meet the community. “It lets them know that we’re here not only for their worst times, but we can also be here for the good times. It lets them see that we’re approachable” according to Hutto PD.
