GRANGER — The Granger High School varsity volleyball team had another non-district match Saturday as the Lady Lions concluded the week on a very high note when they put the sting in the Lady Hornets of Lometa High School. The Lady Lions defended their home floor in dominant fashion as they swept Lometa in three straight sets: 25-4, 25-10 and 25-9 to seal the deal.
Granger continues to get a high level of play from its senior tandem of Tessa Burton and Jaila Rollie at the net, while fellow seniors Montana Moore and Clarissa Miller are also all over the floor making plays. Juniors Sofia Bernal and Marissa Hall are providing great depth as playmakers, while sophomore Krista Hutka has burst onto the scene for head coach Margie Burton and this Granger squad.
Now with a 12-13 overall record heading into District 26-2A play, the Lady Lions are expected to place second in the district standings behind 2A powerhouse Thrall High School. Granger will have its hands full on Tuesday night as the Lady Lions open up district play on the road in a tough environment against the rival Tigerettes.
Following the Thrall matchup, the Lady Lions will return home at 2:15 p.m. this Saturday for a pivotal district matchup vs. Holland High School.
