Hutto runs at Battlin’ Badger
LAMPASAS — The Hutto High School cross country program was in action on Thursday morning as the Hippos and Lady Hippos competed in the 2023 Battlin’ Badger Invitational hosted by Lampasas High School.
The Lady Hippos competed at the Lampasas meet in the varsity girls’ large school division against runners from San Angelo Central High School, Austin Anderson High School, Leander Rouse High School and Stephenville High School.
In a small field of 34 entries in the girls’ threemile run, Lady Hippos sophomore Adia Majtyka had a great run as she placed fifth with a time of 22:01.80. Hutto senior Alyza Delayo finished 14th with a mark of 23:14.20, while freshman Courtney Drain finished a few spots back in 17th place with a time of 23:38.90.
The Hippos ran in the junior varsity boys’ division against other large schools in the three-mile run and had top finishers with junior Isaiah Gosch in 10th place with a mark of 19:47.70, sophomore Caleb Thomson in 22nd place with a time of 20:55.60 and fellow sophomore Trevion Martinez in 32nd with a mark of 21:31.10.
Hutto will next compete on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Georgetown ISD Invitational meet hosted by East View High School.
