Tigers look to bounce back from first loss

THRALL — A heartbreaking 20-14 defeat on the road last week at Jewett Leon High School that came down to the 1-yard line and the final play of the game is now a thing of the past for the Thrall High School varsity football team. The Tigers (3-1 overall record) will return home at 7:30 p.m. this Friday night to host Flatonia High School in the much-anticipated 2A-1 District 13 opener for both squads.

Thrall will be led on offense by junior standout quarterback Chance Parker, who has burst onto the scene this season after transferring from Pflugerville High School. Parker has some great options to throw the ball to with junior wide receiver Landon Gregory, senior tight end Tyler Bonkowski, senior wide receiver Steven Walker and senior wide receiver Breken Proctor.

While Parker is a fantastic dualthreat quarterback who can run, he will have help from senior running back Aiden Nickle and junior running back Braylon Hernandez to move the ball.

Despite being down 20-0 in the second quarter, the Thrall defense played outstanding as a team in the second half as the offense attempted to rally the Tigers past the Cougars.

After Flatonia was routed 43-0 in its second game of the season by Hallettsville High School, the Bulldogs have won two straight contests by seven points with a 21-14 victory hosting Nixon-Smiley High School and 35-28 on the road last week at Falls City High School.
