NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA — Once a Duck, always a Duck. Taylor High School alumnus Jarvis Anderson again made his name known on Saturday night, this time for Stephen F. Austin State University football on the road against Northwestern State University.

With 12:40 left in the fourth quarter, Anderson had previously checked into the game on defense as a true freshman for the Lumberjacks and quickly made his presence known. On a deep pass thrown by NSU senior quarterback Quaterius Hawkins, Anderson made a great read and made a diving interception to take the ball away from the opposing receiver. Along the SFA sideline, Anderson was swarmed by many ecstatic teammates who came over to celebrate his great play to force the sixth turnover on the night by the SFA defense in the 41-7 victory over the Demons.

Anderson, who is deaf, won two 4A gold medals in May as a senior for Taylor in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the UIL State Track and Field Championships and will also run track for SFA this spring.

For Ducks’ football last season, Anderson had a great senior campaign on defense with 39 tackles and five interceptions at cornerback. On offense, he was a very productive wide receiver who had 37 catches for 699 yards and 11 touchdown receptions.

Be sure to continue to keep an eye out for Anderson this football season as the Lumberjacks return home at 6 p.m. this Saturday to Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches as SFA hosts Austin Peay State University.
