Ava Marie Krueger, 100, of Hutto passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023.
Marie was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Taylor to Walter and Mattie Smith.
Her father had a garage and car sales business where she grew up with her sisters. In 1941, she married Lawrence Krueger and joined him in the dairy industry. In 1943, they welcomed their first son, Larry Krueger.
Soon after, they moved to Kansas while Lawrence was in boot camp. Their second son, Bobby Krueger, was born in 1945, and Lawrence returned from the war. In her words, “Times were good with Lawrence back from the war. We were together raising our two boys. Lawrence was farming, and I was busy being a homemaker and Cub Scout Den Mother.”
Marie was instrumental in the growth and success of their dairy farm. She loved telling stories of the travels and hosting meetings while Lawrence was on the board for the PCA. After retiring from milking cows, she enjoyed traveling with the Road Runners.
Marie had many talents from sewing, painting, wood carving, crochet, ceramics, baking and Genealogy. She shared these joys with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. As she grew older, she continued to embrace changing times and technology from email to social media.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant sister, Myrtle Smith; and two sisters, Francis Purdy and Margurette Gossett.
Marie is survived by her sister, Nell Young; two sons, Larry (Linda) Krueger and Bobby (Sandra) Krueger; six grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
