BRENHAM — The Thrall High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams were active on Sept. 9 as the Tigers and Tigerettes headed to Brehnam for the Hillacious Invitational.

The Tigerettes had some standout runners in the 1A-4A girls’ two-mile run on Saturday morning as Thrall junior Sarah Laurence placed 17th in a large field of 109 runners with a great time of 14:08.80. Thrall freshman Kayla Pouncey placed 45th with a mark of 15:19.60, while fellow Tigerettes freshman Gracie Webb had a time of 16:43.10 to place 71st.

Although the Tigers only had two runners compete in the varsity division for the boys’ 5000-meter run in Brenham, both of them did well. Thrall senior Steven Walker, who was named Homecoming king the night before at halftime of the Tigers’ football game, had a solid run on Saturday in a field of 111 runners as he placed 58th with a time of 22:19.60. Fellow Tigers senior Ethan Dahl also competed and his time of 23:37.80 placed him 77th.
