The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued another conservation appeal. Texans are asked to conserve energy today, Sept. 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Today’s conservation appeal does not indicate the grid is experiencing emergency conditions at this time, ERCOT said.
Operating reserves are expected to be low for several hours this afternoon into the evening due to low wind-power generation and high demand.
Energy-saving tips include raising the thermostat by a couple of degrees, turning off non-essential lights and refraining from using large appliances like a washer or dryer.
Last night, ERCOT entered emergency operations due to low power reserves. Although an Energy Emergency Alert 2 was issued, there were no controlled outages yesterday.
A Weather Watch remains in effect through Sept. 8 due to continued high temperatures, high demand, and the potential for lower reserves.
