HUTTO – The debate as to which house has the best Halloween décor in Hutto will be settled during the second annual Halloween House-Off. Participation is free and open to all residences within the 78634 ZIP code.
Hosted by the Hutto Parks and Recreation Department, judges will visit all homes that enter the contest and award winners in three categories. New in 2023, after a public survey, a new award category has been added, Best Theme Related to a Halloween Movie or Character.
Top place finishers will also be awarded for Best Use of Motion and Scariest House.
Registration began Saturday, Sept. 2 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 19. Visit https:// www.huttotx.gov to enter.
Judging will take place after dark from Monday, Oct. 23 through Wednesday, Oct. 25. A map of all participating homes will be shared via social media once registration closes.
The winners will be announced during Hutto’s Frights at Fritz event Saturday, Oct. 28 at Fritz Park. The annual Halloween celebration begins at 5 p.m. and is set to feature music, trick-or-treating, hayrides, a haunted trail, bounce houses and a movie in the park (PG movie to be announced). Costumes are not required, and participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. A sensory-friendly time will be offered at Frights at Fritz, with the goal of helping children avoid sensory overload, but still enjoy the fun of Halloween. From 5 to 5:30 p.m., excessive sounds and noises will be reduced and vendors will be separated for adequate spacing.
