GEORGETOWN — A Williamson County jury reached a verdict Monday, Aug. 28 that will send a Taylor man to prison for life without the possibility of parole.
The jury found Juan J. Banda guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a young child.
“Children are among the most vulnerable members of the community, and this verdict sends that message that no matter how much time has passed, child molesters will ultimately face the consequences for their actions,” Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said.
According to the district attorney’s office, assistant district attorneys Katherine Nolden and Cari Warner presented evidence in Banda’s trial that between 2007 and 2012, he subjected four female victims under the age of 14 to various forms of sexual abuse.
The DA’s office said that Banda was known by, and had ongoing access to, the victims.
The case came to light in 2020 when one of the victims, who is now an adult, reported the abuse to the Taylor Police Department. A second victim came forward to the police after the first report, the DA’s office said.
They add that law enforcement later uncovered evidence for the existence of two more victims.
The trial lasted a week and the jury heard testimony from all four victims. According to the DA’s office, prosecutors worked with the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.
The DA’s office said the advocacy centers played pivotal roles in supporting the pursuit of justice in the case.
