Coupland Civic Organization Hosts National Night Out

Coupland held its annual National Night Out Aug. 1, which was hosted by the Coupland Civic Organization on the grounds of the historic Depot. “National Night Out is a national recognition and one we observe each first Tuesday in August,” Depot coordinator Barbara Piper said. “The Coupland Civic Organization provided a hot dog supper with all of the trimmings, chips, homemade cookies and nice cool water.”

Residents brought lawn chairs and enjoyed interesting talks by officials.

Piper introduced the speakers, beginning with Matt Kreidel of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department.

Kreidel is a Coupland resident, and he provides news about crime in the area. Pct. 4 Constable Paul Leal also provided insights about the crime situation including environmental and dumping issues, and he brought several officers from his office with him. ESD #10 Chief Mark Moellenberg spoke about fire prevention during this time of terrible heat and drought and noted how busy the fire departments are right now.

Pastor Scott Wasdin, the new permanent pastor at St. Peter’s Church of Coupland, spoke about how pleased he and his family are to be in Coupland.

Kelly Hernandez, chief of staff of Pct. 4 Commissioner Russ Boles, brought us the welcome news that the repair of CR 458 will be on the County bond package in the November election.

The Coupland Civic Organization is already planning the annual Choo Choo Fest, which will be Oct. 15.

Coupland’s Master Chef Peter Wabbel will provide a barbecue dinner and there will be a bake sale and silent auction.
