CEDAR PARK – The Taylor High School boys and girls varsity cross country teams competed on Friday morning at the Vista Ridge Invitational meet held in Cedar Park.
The Ducks had seven runners put in work in 1A-4A as the boys placed fifth out of 12 schools entered with 183 points in the meet, while the Lady Ducks also did well as the girls entered nine girls and placed eighth out of 14 schools who qualified enough runners with 218 points.
For the girls, Aubriana Alderete and Zari Thompson were fantastic for the Lady Ducks as they placed 12th and 14th out of 97 entries in the two-mile run. Alderete finished with a time of 13:53.90, while Thompson was close behind her with a mark of 13:58.50.
As for the boys, Joel Lopez had the best performance for Taylor in the 5K as he placed 27th out of 92 runners with a time of 20:32.80, while Matthew Pachicano and Andrew Cortez placed 36th and 37th for the Ducks with times of 21:19.60 and 21:20.20, respectively.
Taylor cross country under head coach Karmen Sanders will next compete in the Pro-Fit Invitational meet on Friday, Sept. 1 which will be held at James Wilson Park in Temple.
