The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a conservation appeal for the second consecutive day. Texans are asked to conserve energy today from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Operating reserves are expected to be low for several hours this afternoon into the evening due to low wind-power generation and high demand.
Energy-saving tips include raising the thermostat by a couple of degrees, turning off non-essential lights and refraining from using large appliances like a washer or dryer.
This marks the second consecutive day ERCOT has issued a conservation appeal, with yesterday’s appeal lasting from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in what ERCOT described as “tight grid conditions.”
A weather watch remains in effect through 8/27 due to continued high temperatures, high demand, and the potential for lower reserves.
