The Taylor Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place during a burglary Aug. 11.

The Taylor Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place during a burglary Aug. 11.

The incident took place in the 200 block of Dahlberg Boulevard and was reported shortly after 11 p.m.

Officers secured the scene and found no one injured on the scene. The investigation revealed no suspects were at the scene when the officers arrived.

According to the police department’s initial investigation, several individuals had been outside the residence causing damage to the victim’s vehicles, but officers were not called until after the suspects entered the residence, where one of the occupants exchanged gunfire with the suspects inside the residence.

There is no evidence at the scene to indicate anyone had been shot during the exchange of gunfire.

Detectives believe there are two-to-four suspects who have not been identified.

Police said the home suffered “extensive property damage,” primarily to drywall due to gunfire.

“There was a waterline that was struck and was leaking quite a bit,” said Commander Joseph Branson. “That’s pretty much the extent of the property damage from the incident.”

At least one round entered a neighboring residence and damaged a mirror. While this is considered an isolated incident, the police view the suspects as armed and dangerous.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the Taylor Police Department at 512-352-5551.
