Here are some submissions from people who have experienced kindness and decided to share it with us.
“I had my estranged husband hold my phone while I buckled in our daughter to go to H-EB, and he set it down on the roof of the car and drove off. Someone then picked it up and took it. I was able to track it to Texas Bay Steak and Seafood, but they didn’t have it. I assume whoever took it also turned it off so it couldn’t be traced. That’s bad enough, but I had a wallet case on my phone with all my cards, and my driver’s license in it too. I also had two-factor verification on all my accounts. So, I couldn’t get into any of them without my phone. I basically lost everything in a matter of minutes. With no access to my money, email or anything else, I made a post on the Facebook community page asking whoever picked up my phone to please just return it. No questions asked. They did not. However, many people from the community quickly sent me messages asking how they could help, and within a few days we were in a much better situation.
I just wanted to give a huge thank you to the people who have helped me out so much this past week. Thanks to the wonderful people of this community, I was able to get a new phone activated and recover all my accounts. I was provided with diapers for my baby girl when I was unable to buy them myself. I now have plenty of back-toschool clothes for one of my sons and some more on the way for my oldest, and someone has offered to assist in getting my daughter some new clothes too. Thanks to everyone’s compassion and thoughtfulness, we are now in a much better place to start this school year off right! I’m so grateful my kids will be able to feel comfortable and confident to begin this semester just like all their peers. We have such an awesome community here in Taylor and I couldn’t be more appreciative.”
– Courtney Lynne Bitner “I love our local H-E-B. A poor man fell outside after he had bought his groceries. Lots of people rushed to help him get up, but when he fell, his bottle of vinegar broke. I asked one of the workers who was getting carts if H-E-B would give him a new one and he said, ‘Sure will. No problem.’ I ran in and got him one and he was good to go with a few scrapes.”
