Thrall hosts Meet The Tigers at packed Tiger Stadium

THRALL – Tiger Stadium was the site of the annual Meet The Tigers event as Tigers and Tigerettes fall activities for Thrall High School were on display for the community. Football, volleyball, cross country, cheer, band and coaches properly introduced themselves as they went down the line with a microphone on Friday evening with the stands packed and plenty of smiling faces from Thrall.

THRALL – Tiger Stadium was the site of the annual Meet The Tigers event as Tigers and Tigerettes fall activities for Thrall High School were on display for the community.

Football, volleyball, cross country, cheer, band and coaches properly introduced themselves as they went down the line with a microphone on Friday evening with the stands packed and plenty of smiling faces from Thrall.

After performances from the band and cheerleaders, the conclusion of Meet The Tigers had an ice cream social hosted by the Thrall Athletic Booster Club at the concession stand which was very popular under the hot Texas sun.

TIGERETTES VOLLEYBALL

It’s officially the regular

f h i season for the prominent Tigerettes varsity volleyball program under head coach Bethany Grissom as Thrall opens its 2023 campaign Tuesday night at home with a dual against Lago Vista High School and Cameron Yoe High School. Although this 2023 squad lost a handful of impactful seniors from last year’s team, the Tigerettes are expected to be very good and are led by senior Melaina Grissom, senior Dezi Lopez, senior Karly Pesantes, junior Emily Holybee, junior Amber Kevil and sophomore B Brynn Leschber. L hb Unfortunately due to a conflicting press time set for Tuesday afternoons at the Taylor Press, updates for volleyball matches on Aug. 8 will not be in the sports section until the weekend. Thrall will also compete Aug. 10-12 at a varsity tournament hosted in Cameron.

TIGERS FOOTBALL

With head coach Aaron Vanecek at the helm of the program, a hungry Thrall varsity football team enters its second week of practice in pads and helmets. This squad has been h very hard at work over the summer and it has shown as the Tigers look to get back into the playoffs following a tough 3-7 season in 2022.

Thrall is expected to be led by senior Tyler Bonkowski, senior Dawson Meiske, senior Steven Walker, senior Breken Proctor, junior Landon Gregory, junior Chance Parker and junior Braylon Hernandez. The Tigers have their first preseason action at 7 p.m. on Saturday as Thrall travels to Austin for a scrimmage against Brentwood Christian School.
