MARSHALL – Taylor High School senior Ansley Reed announced over the weekend that she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at East Texas Baptist University after she committed to play for their women’s basketball program.

The standout Lady Ducks senior basketball player, who is also beginning her fall sports season with the volleyball team, made the official announcement Friday night on Twitter.

A private Baptist university in Marshall, ETBU competes at the Division III level in the American Southwest Conference and has a very good women’s basketball program that finished 20-7 overall with a 13-5 record in conference play. The Tigers compete against Hardin-Simmons University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, the University of Texas at Dallas, Sul Ross State University, Concordia University Texas, McMurry University, University of the Ozarks, LeTourneau University and Howard Payne University.

Reed has been very active over the summer competing across the country in various tournaments with the Phoenix Select Gold 17U team based out of Austin. She is a fantastic player for Taylor head coach Lawrence Bailey’s squad and does it all on the court for the Lady Ducks. In a District 22-4A game last season against Smithville High School, Reed had a sensational game against the Lady Tigers as she led Taylor to a 58-44 victory with a game-high 25 points, a whopping six steals, five assists, four rebounds and three blocked shots.

On a Taylor team with a lot of promise heading into the 202324 season, Reed will be a senior leader of a young Lady Ducks squad with her elite playmaking ability on the court.
