AUSTIN – ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch from Aug. 6-7 due to forecasted higher temperatures, higher electrical demand, and the potential for lower reserves.

No action is needed because grid conditions are expected to be normal during a Weather Watch.

ERCOT set a new, unofficial August and all-time peak demand record of 83,593 MW Aug. 1. The organization’s Six-day Supply and Demand dashboard is showing the possibility of new all-time peak demand records next week.

The dashboards will update in realtime as the week progresses. There is currently enough capacity to meet forecasted demand. This summer, ERCOT set seven new all-time peak demand records.

Texans can monitor the grid through live updates on ERCOT’s website.
