Local churches invite the public to a central location for an important date this week.
Tenth Street United Methodist Church will host an Ash Wednesday service on March 2 along with First United Methodist Church and Allen Chapel AME Church of Taylor and the Thrall United Methodist Church. The Rev. Travis Summerlin will lead the service and invites anyone in the Taylor area to attend.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to begin the Easter season with a joint service,” said Summerlin. “We encourage anyone to attend.”
Ash Wednesday denotes the start of the Easter season. The day is one of the high points of the year for Christians around the world.
Tenth Street UMC is located at the corner of 10th and Hackberry streets in Taylor. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude with the distribution of ashes to all attendees. For more information, call 512-352-2244.
