A Round Rock man was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon, after being involved in an accident last week.

Benjamin Kronguaz, 23, of Round Rock, died Tuesday, July 25, at 3:54 p.m. at Seton Williamson Hospital.

According to police reports, on July 21, at 12:17 p.m., Taylor officers responded to a major collision in the 10200 block of Chandler Road involving a car and a tractor trailer.

An investigation revealed that a red Mercedes-Benz C300 driven by Krongauz was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane where it collided with a tan Peterbilt 379 pulling an unloaded flatbed trailer traveling in the opposite direction.

Krongauz was pinned in the vehicle and officers assisted with life saving measures while firefighters worked to extricate him from the wreckage, which took over an hour. Once freed from the wreckage, Krongauz was transported to Seton Williamson Hospital by Williamson County Emergency Medical Services for life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer had a minor injury but refused treatment at the scene. Both vehicles were towed due to extensive damage as a result of the collision.

The roadway was completely shut down in the area for nearly four hours as police, Williamson County Precinct 4 deputies, Williamson County EMS, Hutto Fire Department and Taylor Fire Department worked the scene.

There are no pending charges for this incident. An autopsy is pending.

This is the second fatality collision of 2023.
