Taylor High School athletics will officially be back for the 2023 fall sports season this Monday morning as the Ducks and Lady Ducks start practices.

First-year athletic director and Taylor varsity football head coach Earven Flowers will have his team ready to grind at 6 a.m. on Monday morning and throughout the first week of practice under the Texas heat.

The hype behind this Taylor team is immense as the Ducks will have their first varsity football scrimmage at 6 p.m. on Aug. 11 as the Ducks are set to host Cameron Yoe High School, travel at 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 for the second scrimmage at Franklin High School and open the regular season on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 against Gatesville High School.

The Lady Ducks varsity volleyball program will also have a firstyear coach under Rylee Davis as Taylor will hold tryouts and begin team practices. Taylor will look to return to the playoffs this season with Davis and her squad as the Lady Ducks will host Thrall High School at 9 a.m. on Aug. 4 for the opening scrimmage, play at home for the second scrimmage at 12 p.m. on Aug. 5 vs. Elgin High School and opening the regular season at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 hosting nondistrict foe Lampasas High School.

As for Ducks and Lady Ducks cross country, Taylor is in great hands as a program with firstyear girls coordinator and head coach Karmen Sanders. Fall season practice will officially begin at 6:30 a.m. on July 31 as Taylor prepares for its first meet of the year on Aug. 18 as Taylor will head east on Highway 79 to compete in the Rockdale Invitational.

Taylor boys and girls team tennis under head coach Kevin Williams starts its season this week with home matches at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3-4 hosting Lago Vista High School and Burnet High School, respectively, at the Taylor High School tennis courts.

Be sure to attend the Duck Day event from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Taylor Stadium as football will get to have full-contact practice for the first time this season with pads and helmets. During the practice, Taylor will have Burgers with the Band, announcements from the Taylor Athletic Booster Club, TEE Foundation, a Senior Cake Raffle, box raffles, the cheer and dance teams performing, an introduction to band officers, volleyball, team tennis and cross country squads.
