Murphy Park will be the site of an upcoming kids’ tennis camp as the Taylor Area Tennis Association, Taylor Parks & Recreation and Taylor Independent School have come together to host the event.
The youth tennis camp, which will be held from 8-10 a.m. on July 25-26 at the Murphy Park tennis courts, will be a free camp for kids ages 7-12.
The TATA was established back in 2011 with the goal of promoting the game of tennis in the area. The organization has gotten participants over the years from all over the area from Taylor, Thrall, Thorndale, Rockdale, Academy, Granger and Bartlett.
“Tennis is an activity that can be enjoyed by all ages and it is our goal to encourage anyone and everyone to experience the game that this organization is so passionate about,” the official Taylor Area Tennis Association website states. “When TATA was first organized, a primary goal was to ensure that the courts at Murphy Park would stay in excellent condition so that the public could enjoy going out and playing, from social or recreational play to competitive matches. As the years have gone by, the courts have seen many improvements and many activities have been added but it does not stop there. We have many planned improvements for the future.”
