Williamson County website receives makeover

GEORGETOWN – On July 11, Williamson County announced some visible changes to its website.

The county’s website can now be found at https://www.wilcotx. gov, rather than the previous wilco.org domain.

The change was made to improve the security and searchability of the site.

“Only qualified U.S.-based government agencies are approved to use .gov addresses,” said Richard Simple, Williamson County’s chief information officer. “Moving to a .gov address ensures our visitors that this is an official county government website.” Additionally, the move also comes with a change in the content management system to improve stability with fewer interruptions in service.

Finally, the overall appearance of the website has been refreshed to include the new county branding. Rather than the previous logo, which included a single shade of blue with white lines in the W, the new logo includes multiple shades of blue and a hint of green.

“The refreshed logo and colors were selected to better depict Williamson County as approachable, trustworthy and professional,” said Connie Odom, the director of communications and media relations for Williamson County. “We will slowly incorporate the new branding into our operations, and items will be replaced over time.”

Williamson County will transition email and other web addresses over to the new wilcotx. gov addresses in the near future. In the meantime, those who wish to reach county officials should continue to use the wilco.org email addresses.

Anyone with an online bookmark for the website is asked to update their link to the new site.
