WILLIAMSON COUNTYThe two victims of the fatal car crash July 1 have been identified.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the two drivers were Ysidro Garza, 59, from Elgin, and Tatum Sik, 32, from Granbury.

Sik was a former X Games participant who rode horses after finishing her motorbiking career. Garza was said by family to be a handyman who also enjoyed playing the guitar.

DPS said the accident occurred on State Highway 95, about half a mile from Coupland. DPS responded to the collision at about 2:20 in the afternoon.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Garza, was traveling north on SH 95. A 2016 Ford F-350, driven by Sik, was traveling south on SH 95.

For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet traveled on to the wrong side of the road and struck the Ford. Both vehicles caught fire and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash and fire.

DPS said no other information is available at this time and the investigation is still ongoing.
