Program seeks veterans active in the community

WACO – Rep. Pete Sessions (TX-17) has announced that he is seeking nominations for the 2023 Congressional Veteran Commendation program.

WACO – Rep. Pete Sessions (TX-17) has announced that he is seeking nominations for the 2023 Congressional Veteran Commendation program.

“Through their service to our nation, these brave men and women protected our nation and defended the freedoms we hold near and dear to our hearts,” Sessions said.

“Following their active duty, many of them have continued to serve their local communities and are at the core of what makes the 17th District of Texas such a special place. It is a privilege to recognize and honor them with the 2023 Congressional Veteran Commendation.”

The CVC, in conjunction with the Veteran’s History Project, is sponsored by the Library of Congress. It was created to honor distinguished veterans and preserve their stories for future generations of Americans.

The CVC program is a nomination-based program. To be eligible, veterans must currently reside in the 17th Congressional District and have served both their nation and their communities honorably during their military and post-military careers.

Nomination candidates should be veterans who have continued to serve their community after leaving active duty. An independent panel will review the nominations. The 2023 CVC honorees will be announced and recognized by Sessions at a date to be determined later this year.

For a nomination form, contact Tori Magers at tori.magers@ mail.house.gov or at 254-366-4279.

Nomination forms are also available at https:// sessions.house.gov/ or by contacting.

The deadline for submitting nominations is July 21.
