Tigerettes roll over Lady Titans

Thrall softball

An 11-run third inning helped the Thrall Tigerettes (2-5) roll over the Manor New Tech Lady Titans 18-3 Tuesday night.

It was the Lady Titans who got on the board first with three runs in the top half of the first inning.  Manor took advantage of two Thrall errors and its only hit of the game, a single to right, to grab a 3-0 lead.

The lead held up until the bottom half of the second when the Tigerettes broke through with five runs. The first came on a Raelynn Johnson double to left that scored Ashlyn Jarosek, who led off the inning with a walk. One out later, a Lady Titan error trimmed the lead to 3-2, but it appeared as if Manor would get out of the inning still holding the lead after a second out.  But, a walk and a two-run triple by Aubrie Henderson gave the Tigerettes a 4-3 advantage and a Dezi Lopez single made it 5-3 after two innings.

Thrall’s big inning came as the Tigerettes’ bats began to crush Manor’s pitching.  Thrall knocked out 10 hits in the inning, including triples by Jarosek, Johnson, and Addison Leschber, and doubles from Leschber, Lopez, and Karli Quintanilla.  When the dust had settled, Thrall held a 16-3 advantage.

The Tigerettes added two insurance runs in the fourth off a two-run homerun by Leschber, her second of the season.  Leschber finished the night going three for four at the plate and driving in three runs, giving her 11 runs batted in for the season. Henderson, Lopez, Jarosek, Johnson, and Preslie Jaronek each added two hits for the Tigerettes.

In the circle, Henderson pushed her season record to 2-3.  She allowed a single hit in the first inning and three walks, but struck out eight Manor batters to pick up the win.

Thrall was scheduled to play at the Caldwell tournament beginning Thursday, however, weather caused the tournament to be rescheduled to Friday and Saturday.  On Friday, the Tigerettes were scheduled to play Normangee and Caldwell, and will then face Bellville and Madisonville on Saturday.
