THRALL – One Tiger will have the honor of playing in the 2023 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in December as Thrall High School varsity football senior tight end Tyler Bonkowski will represent the West squad.

Bonkowski was selected from a pool of more than 6,750 recruits, most of whom competed at one of the nationwide All-American Combines at the Regional or Super levels. Other highly-rated prospects are also selected by the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl’s collection of NFL veterans and staff.

“Now more than ever, coaches at the next level use the All-American Bowl as a recruiting tool to help finalize their potential selections,” the event said. “Equally important, more than 500 colleges nationwide will be viewing, and or scouting, the practices as well as the game. Just as they have since the inception of things nearly 10 years ago, the All-American Bowl has become a “Recruiting Bonanza” for college coaches all over the country.”

The Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, which will be played on Dec. 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, will give Bonkowski the perfect opportunity to compete against other recruits on the field at one of the biggest stages in the country.

“In the last three years alone, nearly 80 percent of All-American Bowl alumni successfully landed a scholarship offer before, during, or after the game,” the event said. “This is a great investment when you consider the cost to attend college is often more than $35,000 on a national average per year.”

Bonkowski is coming off a junior year for Thrall in 2022 in which he was a force to be reckoned with at tight end as he had 35 catches for 444 yards with 10 touchdown receptions. He also had 40 tackles, 12 tackles for loss of yardage 5.0 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two pass deflections at defensive end.

Under head coach Aaron Vanecek, the Tigers will look to bounce back from their 3-7 season in 2022 and return to the playoffs with Bonkowski as one of Thrall’s senior leaders.
