The Rotary Club of Taylor has gone through a leadership change. A new president took the helm earlier this month.

Ryan Stiba, who has been a part of the organization since 2019, officially began his presidency of the local Rotary Club Saturday, July 1.

“I have been blessed by this community where I was born and raised,” Stiba said. “Something that is important to me is that those who have been blessed by a lot make sure to give back and help others.”

Stiba, who is the president of the Citizens National Bank’s Taylor Branch, serves as the treasurer for both the Taylor Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Taylor Foundation. He is also the director for the Taylor Housing Authority, which seeks to provide affordable housing to the Taylor community.

The Rotary Club is an international civic organization that focuses on its local communities and occasionally joins other communities for international projects as well. Taylor’s Rotary Club focuses primarily on education, Stiba said.

The club’s signature event each year is the Rotary Scholars Banquet.

The Rotarians recognize the top 10% of graduating seniors and their parents during that event, along with awarding a $6,000 scholarship.

Additionally, the organization delivers for Meals on Wheels, helps during natural disasters and provides donations for various causes.

“We want to be the center of service in our town and people of action,” Stiba said. “That’s what it means to me to be president of the Rotary Club, directing certain acts of service in our town.”

The club traditionally selects a new member to be the president each year. Tia Stone, the immediate past president of the Rotary Club and the current president of the Chamber of Commerce, believes Stiba will take over the organization smoothly.

“Ryan has a heart for the community,” Stone said. “He is the right person to lead our club next year and I look forward to helping him succeed anywhere he needs me.”

Stone said she knows Stiba will be a delight to work with because of their shared time working in the Rotary Club, as well as in the Chamber of Commerce.

Stiba has begun working on a literary project to help the youngest readers in the Taylor community.
