Lady Lions blank Lago Vista

Montana Moore was responsible for half of the lady Lions scoring in their shutout win over Lago Vista on Monday.

The Granger Lady Lions softball team kickstarted their 2022 softball season this past Monday with a 6-0 shut out victory at home against the Lago Vista Lady Vikings. Returning the majority of last season’s Area Round qualifying team the Lady Lions continue their winning ways.

Granger scored one run in the first and second innings of the contest for a 2-0 lead over the Lady Vikings.

In the third inning Granger extended their lead to 5-0 with three runs crossing home plate.

The Lady Lions would score once more in the bottom of the sixth inning to cap off the scoring.

Montana Moore, Mattie Wilkie and Elizabeth Martinez each finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Moore scored twice for Granger and drove in a third run. Wilke and Martinez scored once each while driving in one run each. 

Payton Filla started in the circle for the Lady Lions and went four innings surrendering two hits and striking out five. Alex Harwell came on in relief for the final three innings giving up three hits and striking out three.

The Lady Lions now set their sights on Mumford before tournament action Feb. 24-26 they will be in the Cameron tournament.
