Autopsy could reveal if body is missing man

Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine if a body found on the edge of a cornfield Thursday night is a man who went missing June 20. “We can speculate, but really there is not much point until after the autopsy,” said Joseph Branson, Support Services commander of the Taylor Police Department.

Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine if a body found on the edge of a cornfield Thursday night is a man who went missing June 20.

“We can speculate, but really there is not much point until after the autopsy,” said Joseph Branson, Support Services commander of the Taylor Police Department. “(The autopsy will) be able to give us details that will hopefully answer those questions.”

Officers were called at 9:54 p.m. to the 600 block of Gravel Pit Road after a nearby property owner spotted an opening in the cornfield that appeared as if someone had entered it.

Investigators said due to the advanced decomposition of the remains, a cause and a manner of death and an identification are pending, as well as toxicology results.

Preliminary indications have revealed no trauma and nothing suspicious was found at the scene, officers said.

For about three weeks, friends and family have searched for Adrian Zachary, 45.

He was last seen leaving his residence in the 700 block of Mariposa Lane on June 20, not far from Gravel Pit Road.

Family members reported him missing June 23.

Texas Search and Rescue arrived July 1 with trained canines to search for Zachary in the heavily wooded area.

Neighbors said they frequently saw the 45-year-old man walking his dog.

"We can speculate, but really there is not much point until after the autopsy. (The autopsy will) be able to give us details that will hopefully answer those questions.”
