Softball in Hutto is off to a busy start as the Lady Hippos are already seven games into the 2022 season. Currently, with a 3-4 overall record, Hutto finished 2-4 this past week at the Bryan tournament.
Hutto started the tournament on Thursday, Feb. 17 with a loss to Flower Mound 5-0. In their second contest of the day, Hutto fell to Elgin 2-0.
On day two the Lady Hippos bounced back defeating Henderson in a low-scoring 2-1 affair. The Lady Hippos added a second win over San Marcos 5-4.
The final day of the tournament saw Hutto drop their final two contests. In the first game, they fell to Johnson 3-1 and were topped by Belton in the afternoon contest 8-4.
Ali Fields finished 9-for-15 during the tournament with eight singles and a double. Fields also had 2 RBIs and scored in five of the Lady Hippos' six games. Hutto had 32 hits throughout the tournament. Hailee Sanchez had the team’s lone home run against San Marcos.
Hutto was in road action last night as they traveled to take on Cedar Park. This Thursday Hutto will travel to participate in the Del Valle tournament.
