LANCASTER – Class of 2023 Granger High School graduate Nathan Tucker is back in the news again after it was announced that the Lions baseball standout committed to Dallas College Cedar Valley this week.
Tucker will continue his academic and collegiate career at Cedar Valley after he was recruited to play catcher for the Suns.
The Cedar Valley Suns are part of the National Junior College Athletic Association and compete in Region 5 within the Dallas Area Conference against Dallas College North Lake, Dallas College Eastfield, Dallas College Richland, Dallas College Brookhaven, Dallas College Brookhaven and Dallas College Mountain View.
Cedar Valley is coming off a strong 2023 season as a baseball program in which the Suns finished with a solid 38-21 overall record with a 16-14 mark in conference play.
Earlier this week, Tucker also made the Texas High School Coaches Association 2A Super Elite Team for baseball after having quite an incredible senior season for the Lions. After he was named the District 27-2A Defensive Most Valuable Player and selected as academic all-district, Tucker had himself a fantastic senior year at the plate with a 0.373 batting average, 28 hits, 27 runs batted in, 17 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and three home runs. On the mound for the Lions, he had 40 strikeouts in 44.0 innings pitched with just a 2.86 earned run average.
Tucker played his final game in a Granger uniform on June 17 when he was selected to play in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game which was held at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
