Heritage Square Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market is typically every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. Booths provide high- quality locally grown produce, responsibly raised meats and unique handmade goods from local farmers, ranchers and artisans. Granger Farmer’s Market

The Granger Main Street Farmer’s Market meets every first and third Saturdays April through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of W. Davilla and Walton St., Granger. Fresh fruits, vegetables, jelly, canned and baked goods, eggs, artisan crafts and more are available.

Hutto Silos Farmer’s Market

Year-round farmers market on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 420 U.S. 79, in the Hutto Co- Op District behind the Cotton Gin.

Second Saturday

Every second Saturday of the month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to become familiar with shops in the downtown area.

SPJST Lodge 29 Taylor

Every Friday, SPJST Lodge 29 hosts live music and dancing and serves hamburgers in its hall at 5025 FM 619. Bands play from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Admission is free.

SPJST is a fraternal organization.

Residents can purchase life insurance, annuities or other items to become a member of the SPJST.

The hall is open for business Wednesdays through Sundays from 3 to 10 p.m.

Weight-loss Group

The Taylor Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 1343 will have inperson meetings for their weightloss support group Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Place, 301 Grace Lane. Members are recommitting to their health journeys and invite others who have struggled with their weight to join them at the meeting. Attendees should use the office entrance to Grace Place.

Taylor Rotary Club Meals on Wheels

The Taylor Rotary Club delivers Meals on Wheels the third Thursday of the month at noon out of the Taylor Senior Center, Lone Star Circle of Care, 1301 W. Fourth St. They serve Taylor and Thrall. American Legion Post 39 American Legion Graham D. Luhn Post 39 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at its post building, 1310 Sycamore St., Murphy Park, Taylor. Veterans as well as American Legion members are invited to attend. For more, call 512-713-4543.

Taylor Area Businesswomen

The Taylor Area Businesswomen’s luncheon meetings are held at noon on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Gatti’s Pizza, 2708 N. Main St. All current, former and interested businesswomen are invited to attend. Meals are $10.

Opening Day

The new Second Street Station will have a grand opening event as they take over the corner of Second and Main Street where Texas Beer Company used to be. There will be live music from 5 to 8 p.m. and a DJ from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., 201 N. Main St. The location will have a kitchen open late, draft beer and Texas branded spirits.

Watermelon Festival

Saturday, July 8 — At 7:30 a.m., celebrate McDade’s big festival with family-fun and watermelon!

Taylor Press Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 — The Taylor Press will host an annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament to fund its scholarship, which is given to an area high school student. Signup for teams of 4 is $50. The deadline to sign up will be July 5. Age divisions for the event are 11-14, 15-17 and 18 and older (anyone who has played varsity level will play in this division). Taylor Rodeo

Thursday, July 13 through Saturday, July 15 — Since 1950, Taylor Rodeo Association proudly hosts the Taylor Annual Rodeo in the hometown of Bill Pickett. 2023 Movies in the Park

Saturday, July 15 — From 7:30 to 10 p.m., Taylor Parks & Recreation will play The Lego Batman Movie for their second 2023 Movies in the Park event at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. The children will have an hour of activity time before the movie starts at 8:30 p.m.

Driving Business Forward Golf Tournament

Wednesday, July 26 — From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Driving Business Forward Golf Tournament sponsored by Kanga Roof and TechNoise, Inc. will take place at the Star Ranch Golf Club, 2500 FM 685, Hutto. Baskerville Play

July 29, 30 and Aug. 5 and 6 — The play Baskerville will be performed at the Williams Event Center, 408 S. Columbus Ave., Cameron. 2023 Movies in the Park

Friday, Aug. 11 — From 7:30 to 11 p.m., Taylor Parks & Recreation will play Remember the Titans for their third and final 2023 Movies in the Park event at Taylor Memorial Field, 1213 Davis St. The Taylor Duck football team will have their first scrimmage during the day. At 7:30 p.m., there will be live music featuring School of Rock. At 8 p.m., the movie will begin. Concessions will be available and BYOB and alcohol in containers other than glass will be allowed.

Michelle’s Hot Peeps Beat CC 5K/1K

Saturday, Aug. 12 — The Michelle’s Hot Peeps Beat CC 5K/1K is the 6th annual fundraiser for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, bringing awareness to the public and providing research for those affected by this rare form of liver cancer. John M. McDonald started the race in honor of his wife, Michelle McDonald, who was taken just five months after her diagnosis. The Foundation’s goal is to find a cure in the next 10 years.

The chip-timed 5K Fun Run/ Walk and Kids’ Dash is open to all ages.

Libros Book Club

Tuesday, Aug. 15 — From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Libros Bookshop will host a Books & Brews at The Loose Screw and then go to the bookshop after, 410 W. Seventh St. The owner will choose the book in July and post it on Instagram @librosbookshop. tx. The book may be a steamy, romance book to match the steamy summer weather. Attendees can buy the book in-store or online.

Taylor International BBQ Cook-off

Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 — The Taylor International Barbecue Cook-off Committee will host the cook-off in Murphy Park, 1600 Veterans Dr. The cook-off began in 1978 and still thrives today. It serves to celebrate the area’s best barbecue cookers competing in one of the state’s most prestigious cook offs.
