Taylor High School athletic director Earven Flowers proudly announced two new head coaching hires with Kale McQuillen as head baseball coach and Rylee Davis as head volleyball coach.
KALE MCQUILLEN
McQuillen is a former standout baseball player for Taylor and a Division 2 All-American during his time at Dallas Christian College. An assistant coach with Taylor for seven years, McQuillen takes the reins of a very talented Ducks baseball program after former head coach Justin Adams accepted the baseball head coaching position at Thrall High School.
“I am beyond blessed to have been given this opportunity to take over this baseball program,” McQuillen said. “I am excited for this season and can’t wait to see what is in store for Taylor Duck Baseball!”
The decision by Flowers to promote McQuillen to head coach of Taylor baseball was met with overwhelming positivity across social media as Taylor hired one of their own. McQuillen will lead a baseball program that has a lot of starters and talented players coming back in 2024 and is fresh off an incredible 2023 season in which the team went 31-5-1 and made it all the way to the 4A regional finals.
RYLEE DAVIS
With volleyball season right around the corner beginning in early August, it will be Davis who comes in as an assistant coach from Austin McNeil High School to lead Lady Ducks volleyball back to the playoffs again in 2023. She is also a lead coach for Roots Volleyball Club, a top volleyball skill development program in the Austin area.
A 2017 graduate with a highly successful Round Rock Westwood High School volleyball program, Davis went on to play collegiately in Austin at Concordia University and was a standout libero and defensive specialist for the Tornados. As a junior in 2019, she became the ninth player in program history to surpass 1,000 career digs.
Known for her vast knowledge of volleyball, Davis will come to Taylor to take the helm of a program that last season had a bi-district championship victory over Houston Washington High School before being eliminated in the area round by Burnet High School.
