The Taylor community awarded 68 scholarships, totaling over $145,000, to Taylor High School seniors during the 2023 scholarship awards ceremony.

While the number of scholarships has increased over the years, several have been in existence for a long time. The Melasky Scholarship began in 1956, Gernert began in 1961, and the Ruth Schroeder Memorial Scholarship started in 1974. The Pasemann Pennies fund began the year Pasemann Elementary opened in 1998.

Many scholarships are provided by families in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one while local businesses also establish scholarships to support students entering certain career paths.

Anyone interested in contributing toward an existing scholarship, or establishing a new scholarship, is encouraged to call Taylor ISD at 512365-1391. For a list of all scholarship recipients, visit www.TaylorPress. net.
