FLORENCE, ITALY – Another day, yet another strong outing for Taylor’s own Fred Kerley as the star proved again why he’s the most dominant sprinter in the world against top competition at the Florence Diamond League.

Kerley won his second Diamond League event in a span of six days when he ran a blazing 9.94 seconds in the men’s 100-meter dash on Friday, edging out Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya (10.05 seconds) and former Baylor University standout Trayvon Bromell (10.09 seconds) to continue his dominant stretch in 2023.

“The secret of my success is being consistent,” Kerley said after the race. “I ran 9.88 already this year, so when my time will be sub-9.80 the world will be surprised, but I will not be surprised. I feel good, I feel good in my training. It was a good, open race for me, so I knew what I had to do.”

The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist and 2022 World Champion seems to improve every race and has his sights set on winning the World Athletics Championships for the second time in a row which will take place in Budapest in August this year.

Kerley has still yet to cross paths again with Marcell Jacobs of Italy, the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist who has not raced Kerley head-to-head this year or last year due to injuries.

Paris, France is the next destination for Diamond League this Friday as will get to go up against great competition again in Omanyala, Bromell and possibly Jacobs if he’s healthy.
