The Rotary Club of Taylor plans to put its motto, “Service Above Self,” into action by hosting a volunteer service fair.

“Rotarians believe in encouraging people to get involved to move our community forward,” Club President Tia Rae Stone said. “So, we are trying to make it easy for people to connect with groups and organizations doing important work.”

The fair will be held Saturday, June 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Old Taylor High, 410 W. Seventh St.

“It will be in conjunction with OTH’s regular market days, so there will be extra reasons to come out,” Stone said. “We are asking clubs and organizations to register with us so we can better market the event to people looking to get involved.”

Clubs and organizations interested in attending should contact Tia Rae Stone at [email protected] with personal contact information.

Rotary Club will reach out, closer to the date, to offer suggestions for all of them to market their group at the event.

The Rotary Club of Taylor is committed to the idea of service above self and works to support projects in Taylor and around the world. Its regular local projects include packing bags at Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry on Wednesday afternoons and running routes for Meals On Wheels every third Thursday, supporting the library’s Summer Reading Program, providing books to local schools and academic scholarships.

Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. It is a non-political and nonreligious organization open to all.

We are asking clubs and organizations to register with us so we can better market the event to people looking to get involved.”
