Heritage Square Farmers Market

The Farmers Market is typically every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. in Taylor. For updates, visit https://www.facebook.com/heritagesquarefarmersmarket.

Third Thursday

Every third Thursday of each month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.

COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines

The Williamson County and Cities Health District will have a walk-in clinic for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Taylor building is located at 115 W. 6th St., one block from Main Street north of downtown Taylor. Tax Assistance

The Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St., is hosting two tax assistance programs free of charge.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will be on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. VITA takes walk-ins only. No reservations required.

AARP Tax Assistance will be available Wednesdays noon to 4 p.m., but online reservations are required for this service.

Business Fair

Thursday, Feb. 24 — The Taylor Business Fair will be at Fannie Robinson Park, 260 S. Dolan St. in Taylor. The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce and National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) Greater Austin Chapter are working together to establish opportunities for local businesses. The event is also meant as a tribute to Black History Month The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m., and businesses are invited to participate. Black History Month

Saturday, Feb. 26 — The Welfare Workers Club will host a Black History Month celebration at the Dickey Givens Community Center, located at the corner of Dolan Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Taylor. Displays will be out from 4 to 8 p.m., and commentators will speak from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masks will be required with social distance practiced. To obtain a free space to display your personal African-American artifacts, call Donald Hill at 512-718-2164.

Beer Festival

Saturday, Feb. 26 — The Hops for Houses Craft Beer Festival is a ticketed fundraising event supporting Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County, TX and will be at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor. ALCOA Retirees

Thursday, March 10 — Rockdale ALCOA Retirees will hold a meeting at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall, formally known as the VFW Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the business meeting begins at 5:45.

Election of officers will be at this meeting. Meals will be $15. Donations towards the hall rental will be accepted. Desserts will be last name groups A-L.

Citizen Academy in Spanish

March 3-31 — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a Spanish session of its Citizen Academy. Members of the Spanishspeaking community are invited to join them and learn more the operations of our agency.
