Thrall Independent School District began its first week of the summer with a great turnout of roughly 120 kids from incoming second through eighth grades on May 30 – June 2 for the 2023 Summer All-Sports Camp.
The four-day camp lasted from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day and gave the kids plenty of opportunity to improve their skills.
“It gives our kids a great experience with all sports, get to know each other and get to know future coaches,” said Thrall athletic director and head football coach Aaron Vanecek.
“It also gives our parents a camp experience that allows them to have full days for their kids.”
Over the course of each day, the boys and girls were divided up with the boys doing football and baseball while the girls did volleyball and softball. Both groups got together to compete in weight room basics, golf, tennis, track and field, as well as basketball.
Each respective sport held opportunities for competition between the kids to show off their skill sets among their age groups.
Plenty of upperclassmen from Thrall High School were there to represent the Tigers and Tigerettes as younger kids got lots of time together with coaches and fellow athletes throughout the course of each day.
