St. Mary’s students display skills at state competition

FORT WORTH – Earlier this month, students at Taylor’s St. Mary’s Catholic School showed off their academic skills by placing in a state competition.

FORT WORTH – Earlier this month, students at Taylor’s St. Mary’s Catholic School showed off their academic skills by placing in a state competition.

On May 6, 18 of the learners participated in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association competition at Texas Christian University.

According to educators, this was the largest group of students the school has sent to the event. The pupils were selected to participate after winning first or second place during district competition in March.

Seven of St. Mary’s pupils placed in the top 10 of their competitions at state. Gunner Streit took first in fifth grade poetry interpretation, and Demitria Dahlberg was first in eighth grade ready writing.

Other winners include:

• Danielle Nemec, third grade ready writing – third place

• Isaac Nemec, fifth grade mathematics – seventh place

• Grayson Stoecklein, seventh grade on-site drawing – eighth place

• Sophia Jessup, eighth grade on-site drawing — 10th place

• Dulcinea Krogmann, eighth grade ready writing – seventh place
