Daniel Nzeka Jr. (DJ) was born May 25, 1994, at Seton Hospital in Austin, to Daniel and Bonnie Nzeka Sr.
He grew up on Murphy Street hanging out with his beloved grandmother, Mrs.
Phelonese Sledge and his favorite Aunt Joyce Hill, who were his favorite babysitters and a part of the village that helped rear him.
He professed his life to Christ and united with The First Baptist Church of Taylor, at a young age.
He started his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and then later transitioned to Taylor ISD and graduated from Taylor High School in 2011. DJ was extremely intelligent and possessed a love for technology, so he attended ITT Technical Institute in Waco.
After high school, DJ worked at Temple Jr. College as a clerk.
DJ spent the last few years of his life providing technical support to private clients, such as phone, computer repairs and software upgrades etc. He was also a stockbroker within the stock market, even taking the time to train family and friends how to buy, sell and trade stock.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Phelonese Sledge; great-grandparents, Andrew and Adell Chambers; Joe and Viola Sledge and Willie Johnson; his favorite aunt, Joyce Marie Hill; and uncle, Willie Joe Sledge.
He is survived by his parents, Bonnie Jean Nzeka and Daniel Nzeka Sr., both of Taylor; his brother, Joseph Nzeka of College Station; his sister, Sarah Danielle Nzeka and fiancé David Balogun of Denton; his girlfriend, Noel Nazi of Austin; his future sister-in-law, Chainy Chancellor of College Station; his Aunt (Apple) Janice LaFaye Robinson (Herbert) of Taylor; his uncle, Kingsley Akiode of Cedar Park; cousins, Janet Fontaine Scales and Anissa Renee Robinson of Round Rock, Tunde Akiode (Ceceillia) of Temple, and Sara Hernandez (Maurice) of Killeen; great cousins, Tason Robinson, Tyjamalic Wright, Nevaeh Dansby, Jaevin and Treylin Wilson, Adara Felix, Alalade and Aylani Akiode; five “special cousins,” Jerry Brockington, Jimmy Brockington, Gale Williams, Bobbie McLamb and Brenda Hennington; and a host of relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 26, at 5 p.m. at A Life Celebration By Franklin, 510 S. Main Street in Taylor, with Minister Coleman officiating.
