What if you woke up with only the things you were grateful for yesterday?
When you leave your house and return to it safely, that is a blessing that is often underestimated.
The same goes for all of the other good things that happen to us each and every day.
The human brain has a natural tendency to give more weight to negative experiences or interactions than it does to positive experiences.
Our brains are trained to look for the bad.
Psychologists refer to this as negativity bias.
It’s not always easy to focus on the good things in life, and sometimes there are circumstances that make it difficult. But difficult doesn’t mean impossible.
An easy way to focus on the good is to realize it’s already there. Think about three things you are grateful for today.
Then do the same tomorrow, and every day after. When we practice gratitude, we are training our brains to focus on good things.
Tell me about the good things. Who gave you good service today?
Who made you smile?
Who made your day a little easier? Tell us your good news.
