GRANGER – The Granger Lions’ baseball team’s season may have come to an end, but still have a reason to celebrate with senior Nate Tucker being selected to the all-star game.
The game will be played June 17 at 10 a.m. at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
The game will showcase some of the best talents from around the state in an attempt to get these young athletes in front of more scouts. Tucker will be amongst those names earning his spot to play in the game.
Tucker was a key piece to the Lions in all sports this season, being the quarterback for football, the point guard for basketball and the pitcher for baseball. Through it all, Tucker was relied on heavily to perform on offense and defense while also being a leader on the team.
Throughout this season, Tucker was crucial to the late-season push that helped the Lions make the playoffs. He made big plays when they needed him to, while having a calm demeanor and a easing smile to show his teammates they were going to make it.
When times got tough for any of the Lions team, a lot of the players looked to No. 7 as a pilar of confidence to help guide them. This is a role Tucker thrives in and does not mind shouldering the load to ensure his team comes away with a victory.
He possesses all the tools to be one of the best players in the state in any sport, but he sacrifices that to make sure the team is along for the ride with him. In addition to his leadership skills, Tucker could flat out play.
He is so gifted athletically, and always made big time plays in big-time moments throughout the season in multiple different sports. If it was a deep pass for a touchdown or a scrabble run for a touchdown, a buzzerbeating three-pointer or a home run, Tucker was always in the mix.
His coaches love his drive and always feel comfortable putting him in high pressure situations because they know he will set the standard for the lowerclassmen and set a good example. Not only that, but his coaches know how good of a player he is, and he almost always makes the play to swing things in favor of the Lions.
Tucker had his opportunity to show the district how good he is, and with the all-star game on the horizon, he will have a chance to show people on a large stage just how good he is and what he can do.
