The Taylor Lady Ducks started off their playoff run with a bang against the Furr Brahmans (Houston) Friday, April 28.
The Lady Ducks defeated the Brahmans 12-0 and showed that they are here to play.
Taylor’s season was rocky at the beginning, but slowly throughout the season, they found their identity. This led to the Lady Ducks picking up big wins down the stretch and putting themselves in a playoff position.
With a first-year head coach in Jennifer Cook and tons of doubt surrounding the team, the Lady Ducks came to play in the playoffs. Even though it was a neutral sight, the Lady Ducks fan base traveled to support their team, and it paid off in a big way.
The Lady Ducks would grab the lead early in the game and not let go until the game was called.
Offensively, Taylor was undeniable, as they racked up the runs early and often. This took a lot of pressure off the defense, allowing them to settle into the game early.
The Lady Ducks’ defense was a stonewall against the Brahmans’ offense at every point of the game. Any time the Brahmans put runners in scoring positions, they remained calm and got out of the inning and continued to add to their lead.
After the game, the Lady Ducks obviously celebrated the huge playoff win, but quickly shifted back to being focused on the task at hand.
With the win, the Lady Ducks move on to Area where they will face Gateway College Preparatory Thursday, May 4.
