After securing the district title, the Taylor Ducks welcomed the Manor New Tech Titans to Krueger Field Tuesday, April 25 to close out the season in a five-inning game.

The Ducks’ stellar pitching was on full display for the home crowd as they only allowed only one hit in the entire game.

Chris Perez started the game on the mound for the Ducks, and he dominated from the opening pitch. Perez pitched four innings and had two outs in the top of the fifth on the board before being pulled because of the pitch count.

Perez may have been pulled before completing the game, but in his time on the mound, he only allowed one hit and only walked two batters. To add to that already phenomenal stat line Perez struck out 12 batters.

Braylan Alderete would take over the mound for Perez after he was pulled, and he kept the momentum going for the Ducks.

Alderete struck out the last batter to secure the win for the Ducks, but it would not have been accomplished if they did not continue their great offensive run.

The Ducks offense scored four runs in the first and fourth inning on their way to the shutout win, adding one run each in the third and fifth inning. Nick Treuter led the way for the Ducks offense Tuesday night recording three RBIs.

Mason Hortenstine joined the hit parade with Treuter hitting on all three of his at bat attempts and recording two RBIs. Hortenstine also hit the only triple of the game, which only fired up the crowd more.

Jake Jansky and Conner Barcuch each added a double to the Ducks’ hitting stats, which helped add to their lead as they were soon batted in by their teammates. The Ducks ended the game early and quickly shifted their focus to the post season, where all eyes are on them as the district winners.
